General Information
St. Bernard Catholic School is a parish school that teaches children Preschool, Kindergarten and grades one through six. Our school is located in Cologne, Minnesota, and was founded in 1876. Under the guidance of the school’s first teacher, Peter Wirtz, a combined school and convent were built in 1880 and were staffed by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Our current principal is Sr. Jancy Nedumkallel, FCC (Franciscan Clarist Congregation). Curriculum
Along with a standard curriculum of Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Geography and Religion, St. Bernard’s also offers Music, Physical Education, Spanish, Art and Computer Skills. Our school choir sings at Sunday masses and features guitar music, played by our students.
Resources
St. Bernard’s has an up-to-date, networked and monitored Computer Lab, and a fully stocked Library. We are currently working on networking the computers in each classroom.
School Lunch Program
St. Bernard’s has a fully operational kitchen offering home-cooked, nutritional meals to our students, all at a reasonable cost to families. State funds are matched with federal funds to assist families who qualify for free or reduced lunch, as well as providing Kindergarten students with at least one serving of milk each school day.
Preschool Program (Licensed)
St. Bernard has programs for three year olds Tuesdays and Thursdays 8am – 10:30am. Four year olds Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 8am – 10:30am. Four year olds and five year olds Monday through Friday 12:30pm – 3pm.
Kindergarten
In keeping with Independent School District #108, St. Bernard’s Kindergarten goes full days, five days a week. We feel that this program challenges the curious minds of this age group, and fully prepares them for first grade.
Bus Service
St. Bernard school has bus service from ISD #110 (Waconia), ISD #108 (Norwood Young America), and ISD #112 (Chaska).

The school’s office hours are 7:30 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. After these hours the answering machine/voice mail is available for any messages. Someone will contact you as soon as possible.
